Sanrio Ukanmuri Book Clip - Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin

Character clips that hold a page wide open

Sanrio characters riding the same spring-loaded clip body as the Sun-Star Ukanmuri series: press the two arms and the clamp opens, so a single hand can hold a paperback, a music score or a recipe book open at the exact page. The clip straddles the spine instead of gripping the paper edge, which keeps the printed lines clear while you read or copy notes.

Six characters, one clip shape

• Hello Kitty - the classic white cat with a red ribbon on a white clip.
• Hello Kitty Red - the same character on a red clip with a yellow bow.
• My Melody - pink clip with the hooded rabbit.
• Kuromi - purple clip with the jester-hooded character.
• Cinnamoroll - light blue clip with the long-eared puppy.
• Pompompurin - yellow clip with the beret-wearing dog.

Where it works best

Softcover novels, sheet music, cookbooks, textbooks and study workbooks. The clamp holds a page but does not pull the binding, so it is a gentler option than dog-earing or weighing a book down with a mug.

Things to know

The clip is sized for one opened page spread; very thick hardbacks with stiff spines may need the clip moved towards the middle of the page. Packaging is a printed backing card with the character art.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is an ukanmuri book clip?

A: Ukanmuri means "crown" in Japanese, and the clip is shaped like one: two arched arms press open a spring clamp that sits over the spine, holding an opened book at the page you are reading with one hand free.

Q: Does the clip damage book pages?

A: No. The clamp rests on the page spread rather than pinching a single sheet, so there is no folded corner or crease; softer paper is the best match, and very stiff hardback spines should be handled more gently.

Q: How large is the clip?

A: The Sun-Star body measures 70 x 120 x 40 mm and weighs about 32 g, which is sized for a standard paperback or A5 notebook spread.

Q: Can it hold sheet music or a cookbook?

A: Yes. The wide opening suits music scores, cookbooks and textbooks as well as novels, because the arms sit on both sides of the spread and hold the book open while both hands are busy.

Q: Is this an official Sanrio item?

A: Yes. Each package is a Sun-Star Stationery product carrying Sanrio character artwork and a 2026 Sanrio copyright line; the six designs have separate item numbers and separate barcodes.

Q: Which character is on which clip?

A: Hello Kitty appears on the white and the red clip, My Melody on pink, Kuromi on purple, Cinnamoroll on light blue and Pompompurin on yellow, so the colour of the clip matches the character.
