Sun-Star Stickyle 2-in-1 Box Cutter Pen Scissors
Two tools, one pen: the Stickyle box-cutter version slides open a 5 mm blade for parcel tape, then unlocks a 25 mm scissors for paper. Sun-Star built it for the desk drawer and the bag pocket where a full pair of scissors is too much but a parcel arrives anyway.
What you get
- One 2-in-1 tool, 13 × 136 × 11 mm closed.
- Box-cutter mode: 5 mm blade for tape and shrink wrap.
- Scissors mode: 25 mm stainless blade for paper and labels.
- 20 g, ABS body, coated stainless blades.
- Four colours: white, pink, black, green.
How the two modes work
The slider has two stops. The first exposes the short box blade, which is meant to run along a seam rather than plunge into a parcel; the second releases the full scissors. This is the feature that separates it from a plain pen cutter: the scissors handle the paper inside the box, so you are not sawing at a label with a blade.
Keep the cutting hand above the box line and pull towards you slowly. The 5 mm blade is deliberately short so it cannot reach deep into packaging; it will cut tape, plastic film and padded envelopes, not corrugated board.
Carry and storage
Closed, both blades sit inside the body and the tool reads as a thick pen. It fits a pen case, a planner loop or the small pocket of a tote. Airline cabin rules vary by carrier and country; check before packing any cutting tool and, if in doubt, put it in checked luggage.
Other Stickyle tools are in Sun-Star; paper, tape and notebooks for the scissors mode are in journaling and kawaii stationery.
Care
Retract both blades before storing, and wipe the edges after cutting parcel tape - adhesive on the blade is what makes the next cut drag. If the slider stiffens, clear the channel with a dry brush rather than oiling it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it a box cutter or a pair of scissors?
A: Both. The first slider stop exposes a 5 mm box blade for tape; the second opens a 25 mm scissors for paper and labels.
Q: How big is it?
A: 13 × 136 × 11 mm and 20 g - about the size of a thick marker, so it fits a pen case or a planner loop.
Q: Can it cut cardboard?
A: Thin card and padded envelopes yes; corrugated board no. The box blade is only 5 mm long and the scissors are 25 mm, so both are meant for light material.
Q: Which hand is it for?
A: It is shaped for a right hand. Left-handed users can use box-cutter mode comfortably; the scissors mode is less natural but workable.
Q: Can I fly with it?
A: Blade length rules are set by the airline and the departure country, and they change. Check before you pack it, and consider checked luggage for any cutting tool.
