ALTA Hugging Cat Bookmark
A bookmark built around one very specific cat moment: pick a cat up under the front legs and it stretches into a long, resigned noodle. ALTA's Hugging Cat Bookmark freezes that pose and hangs it from the top of your page.
How the bookmark works
Slot the cat's two front paws over the top edge of the page you want to mark, then close the book. On the front you get the face and the hooked paws; behind the page the shoulders, belly, hind legs and tail drop down the spine. The face works as a page index while the book is shut, and turning the page shows the arched back and dangling tail — the pattern is printed on both faces, so there is no blank back to hide.
Nothing clips, sticks or magnetises. One die-cut piece of fiber holds itself on the page, so there is no adhesive to fail and nothing extra to lose.
The material: vulcanized fiber
Vulcanized fiber is wood pulp that has been chemically treated into a stiff, hard sheet. It feels like thick matte card in the hand, but it does not crease or fray the way a paper bookmark does when a bag presses against it; the thin ears, paws and tail keep their line. ALTA presents the material as a plastic alternative, and because it is made from plant pulp it is biodegradable.
Three cats in this listing
- Chatora / Brown Tabby — warm beige tabby with amber stripes and a soft white muzzle.
- Kutsushita / Socks — blue-grey cat in white socks, with a white chest and white paws.
- Sabashiro / Mackerel White — silver mackerel tabby with a white chest, belly and paws.
The brand's Japanese line also includes a Siamese, a calico and a white cat with a black cap; those designs are not part of this listing.
Where it fits
Paperbacks and hardcovers, notebooks, planners and stamp books — anywhere you want to see at a glance where you stopped. Several cats along one page edge is the intended way to use them: one per project, one per notebook.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What kind of bookmark is this?
A: It is a die-cut hanging bookmark shaped like a stretched-out cat. ALTA's Hugging Cat Bookmark hooks over the top edge of a page by its front paws, with the rest of the body dangling down the back of the book.
Q: How do you use a hugging cat bookmark?
A: Open the book at the page you want to keep, slip the two front paws over the top edge, then close it. The face stays visible on the front while the body hangs behind the page. There is no clip or magnet to attach.
Q: What is vulcanized fiber and why is it used for a bookmark?
A: Vulcanized fiber is wood pulp treated chemically into a hard, stiff sheet. It keeps the thin ears, paws and tail from creasing in a bag, and because it is plant-pulp based it is biodegradable — the brand presents it as a plastic alternative.
Q: Which cat designs can I order?
A: This listing has three: Chatora (brown tabby), Kutsushita (socks) and Sabashiro (mackerel white). The Japanese line also includes a Siamese, a calico and a white cat with a black cap.
Q: Is this a good gift for a cat lover?
A: It is a small, light, already-wrapped paper-goods gift for readers who live with cats — no sizing, no batteries, and it works as a stocking filler or a small thank-you present.
