Design

Tapir is a two-tone highlighter built around contrast rather than brightness. Each pen carries two wedge tips in colours chosen to sit next to each other on the page, so a single sweep can mark a word in one shade and underline it in another without switching pens. The wedge cut gives a wide, even band for text and a narrow edge for underlining.

Three scent families run alongside the unscented base version. The sweet and milky lines use a light fragrance in the barrel, which matters most when you are marking a page you will look at again rather than a document you hand in. The aromatic singles are the same idea with a warmer, woodier profile. All versions use water-based dye ink, so the ink sits on the paper surface instead of bleeding through typical notebook stock.

Designs, sizes and materials

  • Body — 125 x 25 x 10 mm, PP barrel, water-based dye ink.
  • Tips — dual wedge tips, one colour at each end; one broad band, one narrow edge.
  • Format — singles ship one pen, the trio sets ship three pens in one sleeve.
  • Clear base, pink / green — the unscented classic pairing.
  • Sweet melon soda green / vanilla — sweet family, fruit-forward.
  • Sweet peach pink / mint blue — sweet family, the softest of the three.
  • Sweet potato purple / coral — sweet family, warm end of the range.
  • Sweet trio set — the three sweet singles together.
  • Milky strawberry / rose gray — milky series, red against neutral.
  • Milky macaron purple / silver — milky series, cool end.
  • Aromatic honey yellow / coconut — aromatic single, warm and woody.

Using them on thin paper

Because the ink is water-based dye, it dries on the surface and reads cleanly on cream and off-white papers that would otherwise show a shine. On very thin tomoe-gawa style stock the second colour can still show through if you press hard: mark the line first, let it sit for a second, then apply the second colour rather than overlapping two wet strokes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is Tapir different from a normal highlighter?
A: It has two wedge tips in contrast colours on one pen. The point is contrast marking: one colour for the word, a second for the underline, without putting down one pen and picking up another.

Q: Are the scented versions strong?
A: They are scented on paper rather than perfumed in the air. The fragrance is mild and reads mainly when the tip is close to you, which is why they suit planners and study notes more than documents you hand to someone else.

Q: What size is one pen?
A: 125 x 25 x 10 mm in a PP barrel. The wedge tip lays a wide band on its flat side and a narrow line on its edge.

Q: Will the ink bleed through notebook paper?
A: Water-based dye ink sits on the surface, so on standard 70-90 gsm notebook paper it does not bleed through. On very thin paper a heavy second pass can show on the reverse.

Q: What is in the trio set?
A: The Sweet trio set groups the three Sweet family colours in one sleeve; the single designs are also available on their own.
